As World War II draws to a close, the people of Britain look forward to brighter days. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Atlantic a new president - a 1940s style Donald Trump - has big ambitions and is determined to make America the world's leading military and economic power.
Standing in the way, the creeping influence of the USSR across Europe and the fear that Britain's newly elected socialist government - in need of all the support it can get - will cosy up to the Soviets, creating a nightmare scenario that will thwart that US ambition.
